Features
Leica presents a new model, which as expected, its design is still like those of its line, an elegant, retro and at the same time modern design. Its body made of magnesium alloy makes it much more resistant and durable, it is also fully sealed, so it is resistant to splashes and dust, so we can use it anywhere, regardless of the weather conditions in which they are.
The display is a 3.2-inch, 2.1 million dot LCD with touch functionality.
It also has an EyeRes electronic viewfinder, which has a resolution of 5.76 million dots.
Functions
The sensor used is a 47.3MP Full-Frame CMOS sensor, together with a MAESTRO III processor. They provide incredible quality and detail highlighting, and have a wide dynamic range, as well as wide color depth.
It also has a high speed in terms of shots per second, allowing 20 fps.
The sensitivity range offered by the sensor is ISO 50 to 50,000, allowing photography even in low light conditions.
In addition, it has a 5-axis mechanical image stabilizer, which allows for clearer and sharper images, even when you are on the move, as it compensates for a wide range of motion.
In terms of video resolution, the camera allows recording at 5K quality (30p) with 10-bit color, 4K UHD (60p) and Full HD at 180 fps, or 30 fps for slow motion recordings.
The battery type is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (BP-SCL4), which allows a battery life of approximately 370 shots per charge.
And finally, it has a wide choice of connectivity, either via Wifi or Bluetooth, combining these also with the ability to connect to the Leica application, also has physical connection via USB-C or HDMI.
Approach
They make use of an autofocus, subject-tracking AF system, including face detection as well. This tracking system provides fast and reliable focusing, keeping the subject in focus at all times, regardless of movement. This focus has 225 selectable points, with the contrast detection system.
It also calculates at a high speed of up to 480 fps the distance at which the subjects are located in order to keep them in focus.
