The Canon 7D Mark II , dating from 2014, is intended for photographers who are interested in nature, action photography, so its rugged body is built for these situations. The combination of its dual Digic 6 processor with the rest of the functions works very well. We could highlight of this camera its 65-point cross type focus and its 10 fps shooting speed. Some connectivity, such as WiFi, is missing, as it simply has GPS and a screen that does not have a touch function, for example. Image quality for what is expected from this type of camera may fall short, but it is responsive. The battery and weight could also be a weak point, but it’s all relative to the year of release, mind you.

Construction and Ergonomics of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II

The Canon 7D II is a small sensor camera designed for action and wildlife photographers. If we look at the camera body we can see a wide range of customized buttons for professional and dedicated functions. In addition, we have the roulette to change photos or increase the ISO and the new Joystick to change the focus point more quickly. The sealing resistance is quite good since we are talking about a body very similar to that of the Canon 5D IV, which as we all know is one of its main virtues and that is why it is still a very used equipment by professional photographers. Finally the ergonomics as in all this professional range of Canon is enviable and we can practically use it without a strap without the danger of dropping it.

Focus of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II

The 65-point focus is very good, placing it at the height of the best and only behind Canon’s Canon 1D Mark III. This combined with the impressive burst rate of 10 frames per second, makes this camera perfect and created specifically for the action and wildlife photographer.

Quality and performance of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II

If there is something to reproach this camera for, it is its low resolution, only reaching 20mpx, something scarce if we take into account that the current standard is around 24mpx and that the new 90D already has 30mpx. Performance is on par with Canon’s top of the range with a dual Digic 6 processor that we already know how well it performs in display and use of the equipment.

Does the Canon 7D Mark II have wifi?

The 7D Mark II does not have built-in Wi-Fi, but the brand does offer the possibility to purchase separately the W-E1 Wi-Fi adapter that is built into the SD card slots. W-E1 Wi-Fi adapter that is built into the SD card slots.

TuCamara.net's Canon 7D II review

The Canon EOS 7D II is a great camera but one that is a bit outdated compared to the 90D a camera that a priori should be powerful but which surpasses it in some vital areas such as burst and resolution. If you don’t need such a powerful processor it may be wiser to buy the 90D if it’s at a lower price, although we have to know that we will sacrifice the Canon 7D’s robustness and buttons.
