Features

In terms of body and design, the Canon M6 II is totally different in appearance from its predecessor, looking like a completely new camera rather than a new version. The mirrorless camera has a compact, yet lightweight body, weighing 408 grams (with battery and card), and has a particularly small size, making it portable so it can be taken anywhere, even in a jacket pocket. Its housing is very compact, although it is not sealed, so a slight care must be taken, either with splashes, dust or moisture. Nevertheless, it is a very powerful camera with very adequate features.

On the other hand, there is no built-in viewfinder, although there is the option of attaching the removable EVF-DC2 electronic viewfinder, which has a resolution of 2.36 million dots and 100% coverage. This will provide you with more comfort and is also customizable, and you will be able to preview the colors, brightness and sharpness at which you are going to capture the images.

The screen is a 3-inch LCD with a resolution of 1.04 million dots, touch functionality and a tiltable design (180º up, 45º down) for greater convenience.

The sensor is a 22.3 x 14.9 mm CMOS sensor with a resolution of 32.5 megapixels, coupled with a DIGIC 8 processor. This enables the Canon M6 Mark II to produce clear images with a wide dynamic range, and this combination allows us to achieve fast performance and impressive quality.

It also has a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100 – 25600 (expandable to ISO 51200) and low noise to support low-light work, as well as fast, 14 fps shooting speed with AF/AE tracking.

In terms of connectivity, the EOS M6 Mark II is equipped with Wifi and Bluetooth, allowing images to be transferred quickly and easily. In addition, after transferring them, they can be shared and set up via the Canon Camera Connect app.

And finally, it makes use of a lithium-ion battery LP-E17, which allows a durability of approximately 305 shots per charge, plus the USB charging function allows to extend the capture time.

Approach

In the focusing of the new series we find some improvements, mainly it has a hybrid autofocus system by contrast detection and phase detection, which consists of 143 points. Also new to the camera is the AI-AF function, which detects the subject when it is in motion even when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. It also offers multiple autofocus functions, such as face and eye detection, continuous focus and subject tracking. This AF system works very well in both still image capture and video recording.

With all this, the camera allows you to follow subjects as they move through the frame and capture bursts of images with impressive levels of detail and sharpness. In addition, the face detection and eye tracking function allows you to decide where in the frame you want to focus, with up to 5481 autofocus positions available on the touchscreen.

Similarly, the camera enables burst rates of up to 54 frames in JPEG, 23 frames in RAW or 36 frames in CRAW format. As well as shooting in low light conditions, as it has a range of EV -5 to 18. And finally, the Focus Peaking function can be used to achieve extreme levels of sharpness when focusing manually.

Video

The camera allows you to produce videos in a professional way, either at UHD 4K at 30p, Full HD at 1080p with 120 fps, even time-lapse and slow motion.

Therefore, we have multiple options for video recording, in addition to having a superb Dual Pixel CMOS AF focusing technology with which to keep the image in focus at all times, and at a fast speed.
