Body
The camera body has maintained that classic, retro and elegant design that brand lovers love so much. The main feature of this is its composition, the frame of the camera body is made of magnesium, while the parts most exposed to the elements, i.e. the top cover and the base plate, is made of titanium, made to be able to withstand any environment without presenting any problems.
Also of note is the special “Duratect” coating that has been applied to the camera to protect it from absolutely everything from weather to scratches, so this camera will provide you with a robust and compact composition, as well as reliable security and comfortable ergonomics.
Similarly, there are two different color designs characterized by the “Duratect” coating. The DR Black color, with that luxurious black color body combined with the titanium texture, creating a unique finish, in the same way, when the painted and titanium will age it will leave a very attractive retro look on the camera. And on the other hand, the DR Silver, which maintains the natural color of titanium, thus showing an elegant, resistant and robust but discreet camera.
Features
As for the main features of the camera, the new screen layout is very striking. This new distribution caught the attention of the brand’s followers, since in addition to the screen being hidden, it is folding, a fact that we do not see in hardly any other camera of the brand, since this one is characterized by introducing a fixed screen. Therefore, the screen is closed facing the body, and in order to use it we must unfold it downwards, it has an inclination of 90º protruding from the bottom. In addition, this display is a 3-inch LCD type with a resolution of approximately 1.62 million dots.
On the other hand, another aspect that stands out in this camera is the great advances in the electronic viewfinder. It has a 0.5-inch color OLED-type electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 3.69 million dots with 100% coverage and a magnification of 0.66x.
One of the main improvements we analyzed is the change from a TFT panel to an OLED panel, allowing us to see much more vivid colors. In addition, this OLED panel has high contrast and allows details to be displayed even in shadows and reflections, and the viewfinder is clear and easy to see even in bright conditions.
They make use of a 23.5 mm x 15.6 mm X-Trans CMOS 4 primary color filter sensor with a resolution of 26.1 megapixels, together with an X-Processor 4 image processor. The sensor has a high light and shadow recording capability, as well as exceptional image quality.
It also has a high ISO performance from ISO 160 to 12800, has a wide dynamic range -5 EV – +5 EV, and also has a shutter speed of 11 fps.
On the other hand, it allows a wide connectivity, as well as with a Smartphone, by Wifi or Bluetooth, it also allows with a USB type C port, allowing to transfer or charge the images by a simpler way. And they have a NP-W126S lithium-ion battery, which has an approximate life of 370 to 440 shots.
And finally, they are known for being the masters of color science for more than 85 years. With this they have several film simulation modes, each of which has a unique set of colors and shades to create images full of detail. There are a total of 17 simulation modes, including Classic Chrome, Acros and Eterna, and a new simulation mode called “Classic Neg” has been added.
Approach
With the focus, it has a hybrid phase detection and contrast detection autofocus (AF) system, which is composed of a wide range of 425 points covering up to 99% of the image frame. On the other hand, the incorporation of the fast image processor significantly speeds up the system, making the Fujifilm X Pro 3 one of the cameras with the fastest AF system.
And finally, it allows us to reach a sensitivity of -6EV, which allows us to capture images even in low light conditions.
