It has a new 12.1 MP full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, including numerous innovations in light capture, cabling and output optimization, with ultra-fast readout speeds, incredible photo resolution across the entire sensitivity range, 15-step dynamic range and minimal shutter travel. The sensor also offers focal plane phase detection AF.
In addition to the above-mentioned features, the BIONZ XR image processor, with up to 8 times the processing power, has also been developed for this camera.

The new BIONZ XR image processor brings new improvements in color reproduction, stability against different light sources, natural gradation and attenuation, and reduced shutter travel.
